You have to feel desperately sorry for Joe Doyle hanging on
for what must have seemed an age to cross the winning line before being
unceremoniously dumped on the York turf only to be disqualified because his
foot brushed the ground before the line came.
At least trainers and owners know if they book this jockey, they are
going to get every ounce of commitment from him
